Washington-Lee Students Sue County Over Name Change: Report
The students argue that the Arlington County School Board had improperly made the move of stripping Robert E. Lee from the school.

ARLINGTON, VA -- The Arlington County School Board may have a fight on its hands as it seeks to remove Confederate General Robert E. Lee's name from Washington-Lee High School, according to a report.
WUSA 9 reports that three students who believe the county was too hasty stripping Lee of the honor have filed suit, alleging that the board members voted without public input.
Washington-Lee High School, which honors both Lee and George Washington, was founded in 1925. The board moved to strip Lee's name from the school after the violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesvile over a Robert E. Lee statue.

The students reportedly claimed that it's not the name change they have an issue with, but how it was done. The board took the action on June 7.
The students believe the board is worried about seeing a repeat of the controversy that erupted over the name change of J.E.B. Stuart High School in Fairfax County last year.
