ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police responded to a report of possible shots fired at Washington-Liberty High School at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday.

Instead of gunshots, the police investigation found evidence that fireworks were set off inside the high school. No weapons were found in their search, police said.

One adult who was inside the school at the time of the incident was seeking treatment for a medical issue, ARLnow reported Tuesday.

By late morning, the lockdown had been lifted, and Arlington Public Schools was given permission by county police to dismiss students from the school.

ARLnow reported that summer school classes were taking place at Washington-Liberty at the time of the incident.
