What's Open, Closed In Arlington On Fourth Of July 2017
The City of Arlington announces information regarding City Hall hours, recycling and parking meter usage for July 4.
ARLINGTON, VA — July 4th is fast approaching, and that means plenty of closures in Arlington County in observance of the holiday. We've put together a quick breakdown of what will be open and what will be closed Tuesday.
All Arlington County government offices, including courts, libraries, and publicly run facilities will be closed on Tuesday, July 4. Trash and recycling collections will take place as normal, however.
You'll be able to park for free throughout the county, as meters will not be enforced for the entire day.

ART buses on routes 41, 45, 51, 55, and 87 will operate on Sunday schedules, while all other ART routes will not operate.
- DMV — Closed
- Parking — Metered areas not enforced, but street parking restrictions will be in place around Iwo Jima, Long Bridge Park and the Air Force Memorial.
- Admin Offices – Closed
- Classes/Leagues – Closed
- Parks – Grounds Open
- Centers – Closed
- Camps – Closed
- Sprayground – All will be operating regular hours except for Drew, which will be open from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Courts – Closed July 3-4
- Some APS Pools Open – See Pool Schedule and Pool Special Events Schedule
- Trash & Recycling – Normal operations.
- Special Collection (Brush, Metal, E-waste) & Cart Services – Normal operations.
- Mulch Pickup and Delivery – No delivery or pickup.
Several road closures will take place to facilitate the safe passage of large crowds for the Independence Day events and fireworks.

Listed below are the streets and times that will be affected:
6 A.M. to 11 P.M.
- Memorial Bridge / Memorial Circle
1 P.M. to 11 P.M.
- Marshall Drive from Route 110 to N. Meade Street
- N. Meade St. from N. 14th St. to Marshall Drive
3 P.M. to 11 P.M.
- Meade Street from Marshall Drive to Route 50 (access to the Ft. Myer Heights neighborhood will be from the Rhodes Street bridge)
- Exit ramp from westbound Route 50 to N. Lynn Street (Rosslyn exit)
- Exit ramp from eastbound Route 50 to N. Meade Street (Rosslyn exit)
- Long Bridge Drive from Boundary Channel Drive to S. 10th Street
8:30 P.M. to 11 P.M.
- Eastbound Route 50 at Washington Boulevard. All traffic diverted from Route 50 on ramps to East and West Washington Boulevard
- Eastbound N. 10th ramp to eastbound Route 50 will be closed, all traffic diverted to westbound Route 50
- Courthouse Rd. ramp to eastbound Route 50 will be closed, all traffic diverted to westbound Route 50 or N. 10th Street
- Pershing Drive at Route 50 will only be allowed westbound
- Eastbound N. Fairfax Drive from N. Pierce Street to N. Fort Myer Drive
- Columbia Pike between S. Orme Street and S. Joyce Street
- Joyce Street between Army Navy Drive and Columbia Pike
Street parking in the areas of the United States Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima), Long Bridge Park, and the Air Force Memorial will be restricted. Motorists should be on the lookout for temporary “No Parking” signs. Illegally parked vehicles may be ticketed or towed. If your vehicle is towed from a public street, please call 703-558-2222.
Arlington County residents and visitors are also reminded of the following:
- Alcoholic beverages, grills, and fireworks are prohibited on county and federal parkland during Independence Day events.
- Vendors will not be allowed in the area of the United States Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima).
- Coolers and backpacks will be subject to search upon entry to the United States Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima) and Long Bridge Park.
Attendees are strongly encouraged to use public transportation. The Rosslyn Metro stop is approximately 5 blocks north of the United States Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima), and the Air Force Memorial is within walking distance of the Pentagon City Metro station. ArlingtonCounty will be running shuttle buses to Long Bridge Park from the Crystal City and Pentagon City Metro stations.
