What's Open, Closed For Labor Day 2024 In Arlington

ARLINGTON, VA — Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial last hurrah for summer as many families will head to beaches and other destinations or host backyard barbecues.

Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 2, when Arlington County government offices will be closed along with other services. Many students who have already started school will have a four-day weekend from Friday to Monday. Other services like transit will be open with schedule changes.

If you're looking for something to do, some of the region's events include The Roots at Wolf Trap, the Washington Nationals vs. Chicago Cubs and much more.

Here are the openings and closings to know in Arlington:

Arlington County government offices: Closed Monday, Sept. 2.

Arlington Public Schools: Closed Friday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 2.

Courts: The Arlington Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2.

Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers are closed on Labor Day.

Libraries: On Monday, Sept. 2, all Arlington Public Library locations will be closed.

Human Services: Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, and Mental Health Emergency Services open 24/7/365.

Permitting and Inspection Services: Permit Arlington Center is closed on Monday, Sept. 2 Permit Arlington is available for customer use and application submissions.

Parking: Permit parking is always in effect unless specifically noted on the sign. Meters are not enforced on holidays.

Metro: Metrorail will be open 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Monday, Sept.2.

Metrobus: Will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday, Sept. 2. See https://www.wmata.com/schedules/timetables/.

ART: In observance of the Labor Day holiday, ART 41, 42, 45, 51, 55 & 87 will operate on Sunday schedules. All other ART routes will not be operated.

Post offices: Closed on Monday, Sept. 2.

Parks & Recreation Facilities & Programs: All Community Centers are closed on Monday, Sept. 2.

• Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center - Open Monday, 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. Competition pool will close at 1:30 p.m.

ABC Stores: All stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2.

Animal Welfare League of Arlington: Closed Monday, Sept. 2. The Arlington County Animal Control team can be reached for emergencies at 703-931-9241.

Sheriff's Office: Administrative offices closed on Monday, Sept. 2. Detention Center Visiting Hours.
