What's Open, Closed For Veterans Day 2021 In Arlington

ARLINGTON, VA — Before the holiday season gets started with Thanksgiving later this month, Veterans Day will be observed as a federal holiday on Thursday, Nov. 11. The holiday celebrates all those who have served in the U.S. armed forces. In Arlington, there will be closures for the holiday and a Veterans Day ceremony.

Arlington National Cemetery is hosting a Joint Full Honors Procession and Aerial Review starting at 9 a.m. The event will be part of the Unknown Soldier Centennial Commemoration, which will include a joint service flyover featuring formations from each service.

Here's a look at what's open and what's closed in Arlington:

All Arlington County government offices and services will be operating on modified schedules for Veterans Day on Thursday.

COVID-19 Clinics: All county COVID-19 vaccine clinics and testing kiosks will operate as normal on Thursday.

Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court are closed on Thursday.

Metered Parking will not be enforced on Thursday.

DMV & DMV Select: All DMV offices are closed on Thursday. Visit DMV's Online Services to access many available.

Human Services: Closed (Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, and Mental Health Emergency Services open 24/7/365)

Libraries: Closed.

Parks & Recreation Facilities & Programs: On Thursday, administrative offices and centers are closed; classes are canceled; parks are open but check with your league to see if it is open.

Permitting and Inspection Services: Permit Office is closed on Thursday. No building or trade inspections will take place. Online permitting is available. System is available for customer use and application submissions.

Public Schools: Closed

Sheriff's Office: Administrative Offices closed on Thursday.

Swimming Pools: For openings, see pool schedule.

Trash/Recycling/Yard Waste and Special Collections: Normal Thursday routes collected on Nov. 11; Customer Contact Center is closed; No mulch delivery on Nov. 11; Household Hazards/Electronics Drop-off Facility and Earth Products Drop-Off Yard are closed on Nov. 11.

Treasurer's Office: Closed Nov. 11, but CAPP available for online payments.

Transportation

• ART – ART will operate holiday bus service on Thursday. ART 41, 42, 45, 51, 55, and 87 will operate regular Sunday schedules. All other ART routes and the Customer Call Center will be closed.
• STAR – The STAR Call Center will be closed on Thursday and all standing order rides, except for dialysis, will be canceled. Call before the holiday to request a trip for Nov. 11.
• Metro: Metrobus and Metrorail will run on a Saturday schedule on Nov. 11. Service is reduced through at least Nov. 15 due to the Oct. 12 train derailment investigation.
