Who to Call to Fix a Pothole in Arlington County
Now that the snow is melting after last week's blizzard, potholes are popping up across Northern Virginia.

ARLINGTON, VA -- The snow from last week’s blizzard is starting to melt, leaving behind, in some case, some pretty major potholes.
In Arlington, the county receives more than 150 reports of potholes a day for several weeks after the winter season, according to the county. Since the blizzard dropped about 2 feet of snow, it’s likely calls will start coming in especially once more snow is cleared.
The county notes that every effort is made to repair potholes as quickly as possible and residents are encouraged to report them whenever they see one. Here’s pothole repair contact information for the county: Report a pothole, online (or call 703-228-6570).

Outside of Arlington County, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) maintains most primary and secondary roads.

Did a pothole damage your vehicle in Arlington County? The county says that some claims are made each year by drivers alleging that potholes on county roads have damaged their vehicles.
The county’s Office of Risk Management makes its determinations on a case by case basis, the county says. Under sovereign immunity, the County only considers payment of claims in that small percentage of cases where it can be shown that the damage was caused by a pothole that had been reported and had gone unrepaired for an unreasonable length of time, according to the county.
