Winning Lottery Ticket Worth $250K Bought At Arlington 7-Eleven

A Silver Spring, Maryland man got lucky when he purchased a lottery ticket at an Arlington store that turned out to be worth thousands.

ARLINGTON, VA — A Maryland man walked away with the top prize in the Virginia Lottery's Double Dollar Crossword, after the ticket from ann Arlington convenience store turned out to be a winner.

Silver Spring resident Elvis Umana Hernandez works in construction and carpentry. He recently bought the winning ticket worth $250,000 during a visit to the 7-Eleven at 1500 S Fern St.

With prizes ranging from $10-$250,000, Double Dollar Crossword is one of a dozens of scratcher tickets put out by the Virginia Lottery. This is the second ticket in the game redeemed for $250,000. One other remains unclaimed. The odds of buying a top-prize ticket are 1 in 652,800 and the odds of buying any winning ticket in this game are 1 in 3.64.

Hernandez told Virginia Lottery that he has no plans at this time for the money he won.
