WJLA, News Channel 8 Not Leaving Rosslyn Anytime Soon, Sign Huge Lease
Sinclair Television Group, the parent company of the stations, has signed a 15-year lease at 1000 and 1100 Wilson Boulevard.
Sinclair Television Group will be remaining in Rosslyn for a long, long time. The company, which owns local TV stations WJLA and News Channel 8, just renewed its lease for over 100,000 square feet of space at the towers at 1000 and 1100 Wilson Boulevard until 2031.
For several years, Sinclair Television Group has been looking around the D.C. area for a "long-term real estate solution that meets our future business objectives," including the possibility of building their own standalone facility, Sinclair Senior VP and Chief Technology Officer Del Parks said in a statement. But ultimately, officials kept coming back to their current Rosslyn property as the obvious best choice, Parks said.
"With its expansive building infrastructure and operational flexibility, we are able to execute our growing platform in Rosslyn most efficiently," he said.

Dan Mellon, general manager of WJLA and News Channel 8, said that Rosslyn's ongoing transformation makes it an attractive place to continue to operate as a local news station.
"The Towers proximity to Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., also provides our employees the ability to cover stories quickly, from a location that is free from transportation inefficiencies," he said in the statement.
