Woman Charged With Assault, Drug Possession After Rosslyn Attack

A 43-year-old faces felony charges after allegedly attacking three people and kicking police officers on North Moore Street in Rosslyn.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 43-year-old woman is facing assault and drug possession charges after she attacked three people in Rosslyn on Wednesday night, according to authorities.

Officers responded just after 7 p.m. to the 1800 block of North Moore Street to investigate a trespassing report.

The officers determined that a woman assaulted two female and one male victims who were in the area, according to the incident report. The glasses of one of the victims were broken and she was also injured, but did not require medical attention.

When the officers took the suspect into custody, she began to act disorderly and kicked the officers, according to the report. Neither of the officers were inured. Police recovered suspected narcotics from the suspect.

Renee Washington of an undetermined address was arrested and charged with two counts of assault on police, three counts of assault and battery, possession of Schedule I/II controlled substance, destruction of property, disorderly conduct and public intoxication, according to ACPD. She was held without bond.

Washington was arraigned Wednesday morning in Arlington General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on May 5, according to court documents.

Most of the charges Washington is facing are misdemeanors, the two assault on police charges are Class 6 felonies, which carry a potential sentence of one to five years in prison or up to 12 month in jail/and or a fine of up to $2,500, under the Code of Virginia.

The possession of Schedule I/II controlled substance charge is a Class 5 felony. If Washington is convicted on this charge, she could be sentenced to one to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $2,500, under Virginia law.
