Woman Cited For Attempted Arson In Green Valley, Police Say
Arlington County police arrested a 38-year-old woman who they say poured gasoline on a closed office door at a residential building.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 38-year-old Arlington woman is facing an attempted arson charge after she poured gasoline on a closed office door inside a residential building in Green Valley on Wednesday night, according to authorities.
Officers responded around 10:40 p.m. to investigate a destruction of property report at a residential building in the 3200 block of 24th Street South.
"The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect approached a closed office inside a residential building, allegedly poured gasoline and struck the door, resulting in damage," according to the incident report. The officers found the suspect at the scene and took her into custody.

Police arrested and charged Taliesha Rosetta Johnson of Arlington with attempted arson, destruction of property, and destruction with of property of less than $1,000 with intent, according to the report.
Johnson had a bond hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on Friday, in Arlington General District Court, according to court records. The hearing was continued to Friday, Oct. 23, at 10 a.m., and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on April 22. As of 1 p.m. on Friday, Johnson remained in custody.

The destruction of property charge is a Class 6 felony. If Johnson is convicted on this charge, she faces a potential sentence of one to five years in prison, or up to 12 months in jail plus a fine of up to $2,500, under the Code of Virginia.
The attempted arson of a dwelling that is usually occupied is a Class 4 felony, which carries a possible sentence of two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000, according to Virginia law.
