Woman Fired For Flipping Off Trump Raises More Than $75,000

It was the middle finger heard 'round the world: the photo of Juli Briskman saluting President Trump on her bike as his motorcade rolled past in Northern Virginia late last month quickly went viral. And when Briskman outed herself as the person in the photo to her employer, she was soon fired.

Fortunately for her, it may end up being a financial windfall for, as a GoFundMe page created on behalf of Briskman has raised $76,620 as of Tuesday morning out of a goal of $100,000, and it's only been up for eight days. More than 3,000 people have contributed to the campaign.

"Through your generous donations, heavy burdens have been lifted. Thank you!" Briskman was quoted as saying on the GoFundMe page.

The organizer, Rob Mello, wrote on the page that he has connected with Briskman and the campaign has "officially" set her up as the beneficiary.

Briskman was fired by government contracting firm Akima LLC under the company's social media policy, but she wasn't wearing anything associated with the company nor did she identify herself as the individual on her social media accounts. Also, she supposedly found a public comment by a senior director at the company in a Facebook discussion on Black Lives Matter where he says: "You’re a f------ Libtard a------," the Post reported.

The pool report documenting the incident noted that as the motorcade departed the golf club at 3:12 p.m. on Oct. 28, it first passed two pedestrians, one of whom gave a thumbs-down sign. The motorcade then overtook the female cyclist who responded by giving the middle finger. The cyclist caught up with the motorcade, which had slowed down, and once again offered the finger before she turned off in a different direction.

Even when Trump arrived at the golf club earlier in the day, he was met by a lone protester who stood at the entrance of golf course with a sign that said "Impeach." There is even photographic proof showing both the woman on the bike and the lone protester who crossed paths with the president on Saturday.

On the GoFundMe page Briskman wrote that she never imagined her "one-finger salute" to the presidential motorcade would cost her her job. She describes her worries, and thanks donors for helping her family.

"I was shocked and worried about many things: How and when to tell my children? (my daughter's birthday was days away and of course I wanted her to have a happy one.) How would I pay for healthcare? How much money do I have in my savings to cover our mortgage and general living expenses in Northern Virginia and how long will it last? How long will it take to land another job?"

Trump, who routinely criticized his predecessor, President Obama, for spending too much of his time in office on the links, has spent more time golfing than Obama, according to Politifact. As of Oct. 10, NBC News, which is tracking Trump's visits to his properties, found that Trump has visited Trump golf properties on 76 of his 282 days in office.
