Woman Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash On Columbia Pike In Arlington

Arlington police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian on Columbia Pike.

ARLINGTON, VA — A woman was killed early Monday in a hit-and-run crash on Columbia Pike, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Police said officers were dispatched just before 1:30 a.m. Monday to Columbia Pike at South Thomas Street for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they found the woman unresponsive in the roadway with serious injuries, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the striking vehicle, described by police as a dark-colored SUV, fled after the crash.

Police said the pedestrian was an adult woman. Her identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The crash remains an active critical crash investigation.
