ARLINGTON, VA — A woman pepper-sprayed a man who was taking photos of his children in Pentagon City Tuesday afternoon, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

The man was treated on the scene by medics for injuries from the pepper spray.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Arlington police went to the 1100 block of S. Hayes Street, the same block as the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City mall, in response to the report of an assault. A security guard at the scene told police that the woman approached him and said she believed the man was taking photos of children that he did not know.

The security guard spoke with the man and determined he was taking photos of his own children. The woman then intervened and pepper-sprayed the man before fleeing the mall, police said.

The suspect is described as a Black woman with an average build, approximately late 20s to mid-30s, wearing a blue jean jacket, white shirt, and black sweats, according to police.
