Woman Who Entered Arlington Mill Home Via Window Faces Assault Charge

ARLINGTON, VA — A 24-year-old woman who climbed through the window of an Arlington Mill home on Tuesday is facing multiple charges, including assault and battery, according to the Arlington County Police Department.

Officers responded around 5:58 p.m. to the 900 block of S. Dinwiddie Street for the report of a dispute. A preliminary investigation revealed that a man was at home when he heard a noise and saw a woman that he knew trying to enter his home through a window, according to police. When the man confronted the woman, she hit him with a rock and pulled out a knife, with which she tried to strike him.

The man left his home briefly in order to get some help. While he was gone, the woman took electronics and food from the home and then left, according to police.

Officers located and arrested the suspect, whom they identified as 24-year-old Janae Lancaster of no fixed address. After taking Lancaster to a nearby hospital for the treatment of minor injuries, police charged her with attempted aggravated malicious wounding, assault and battery and burglary. Lancaster was then held without bond.
