2 Firefighters Injured While Responding To Storm In Loudoun County

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries on Wednesday while they responded to calls related to severe storms in the region.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Two firefighters suffered minor injuries on Wednesday while responding to calls related to the storms that swept through Loudoun County, the fire department said.

Authorities said one of the firefighters was injured while responding to an attic fire after a home was struck by lightning. The fire department did not say what caused the second firefighter's injury.

The home that caught fire is located in the 25000 block of Kinsale Place in Aldie. After crews discovered the fire in the attic, they were able to extinguish it within 12 minutes, according to the fire department.

The fire displaced two adults and two dogs, authorities said. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for treatment of a minor injury suffered during the incident.

The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office estimated that the blaze caused $336,000 in damage.

Other calls around the county included downed power lines, fallen trees, and lightning strikes. Fire department officials reminded residents to never approached fallen power lines.
