2015 Ashby Ponds Scholars' Fund Campaign Draws to a Close

The annual Duck Derby and Community Car Wash close out the month of April

(Ashburn, Va.) - The 2015 Scholars’ Fund Campaign at Ashby Ponds draws to a close as the community hosts its final two fundraisers: the annual Duck Derby and Community Car Wash.

On March 30, Ashby Ponds kicked off the campaign with a room full of more than 200 residents and guests for their annual Fashion Show benefiting the community’s Scholars’ Fund. The Duck Derby fundraiser took place on April 16; rubber ducks raced the length of the Ashby Ponds indoor pool and winners received donate prizes from community partners and local organizations. Finally, scholarship candidates participated in a Community Car Wash on April 25.

The Scholars’ Fund at Ashby Ponds provides recipients with scholarships toward higher education; since the program’s establishment in 2010, nearly 60 students have received scholarships. Scholarships are provided to students who work for the community’s dining services department in a variety of capacities including as servers, restaurant assistants, utility workers, and service coaches. If they satisfy a number of requirements, the students receive up to $4000 (or up to $500 per semester) in scholarships paid directly to the college or trade school of the student’s choice.
