Westpark Golf Course Transformation Continues Despite Neighbors’ Worries: Report

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved plans to allow a disc golf course on the Westpark site over some community objections.

ASHBURN, VA – Loudoun County is moving forward with turning the former Westpark Golf Course in Leesburg into a passive park, despite community fears about noise from a planned disc golf course on the site, WTOP reports.

The county’s board of supervisors approved a plan on April 22 that would transform the former golf course, which closed in 2019, into a park with three miles of trails, pavilions, rest rooms and an 18-hold disc golf course. It’s the latter that has residents worried, according to WTOP.

Some of the park’s neighbors fear the sound of plastic discs hitting chains, a key part of disc golf, will wake children, annoy pets and otherwise disturb their peace.

Supervisors at the April 22 meeting said changes to mitigate noise had already been incorporated into their plans and that more work would be done toward that end.
