ASHBURN, VA – Ashburn parents need a moment of Zen.

The mental health care provider network A Mission for Michael commissioned the survey of 3,012 parents. It considered factors like childcare costs, grocery bills, school pressures, commuting, work demands, screen-time battles and sleep deprivation and then ranked the areas where parents reported the most stress.

Regarding Ashburn, the survey noted that Loudoun County has been one of the fastest-growing areas of Virginia over the past 20 years, and Ashburn has become one of the Washington region's premier family destinations. However, “[w]hile parents are attracted by strong schools and newer neighborhoods, rising housing costs have created growing financial pressure for many households. Balancing mortgage payments, childcare, activities, and everyday expenses can leave families feeling stretched despite living in a prosperous area.”

Perhaps adding to the stress is the running turmoil in the Loudoun County Public School System, which has endured controversy over gender-inclusive policies and has been in the crosshairs of the federal government as an example of a school system run amok.

Around the nation, two of the three most stressed-out areas for parents were in New York, with Scarsdale taking the dubious top place and Huntington coming in second. Third was nearby Westfield, New Jersey.
