Body Of Missing Loudoun Woman Found, Sheriff Says

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The body of a Loudoun County woman who has been missing for two weeks has been found, authorities said.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said a body believed to be Carolyn Taylor was found at 4:51 p.m. on Sunday.

The body was found on the 38000 block of Hughesville Road in Purcellville, the sheriff's office said.

Taylor, 81, was reported missing Aug. 23, and searches had been continuing in the days since her disappearance, the sheriff's office said.

Taylor was believed to have left her residence in the Purcellville about 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 23 and had been last seen in the area of Foundry Road and Hughesville Road. She was known to walk along local roads, wooded areas and fields and to sometimes nap outdoors, the sheriff's office said.

According to the sheriff's office, since Taylor was reported missing, LCSO Search and Rescue personnel have conducted extensive searches using multiple specialized resources, including helicopters, drones and all-terrain vehicles. They have used bloodhounds and other scent-specific working dog teams, as well as human ground search teams, and say they have been helped by numerous public and private groups in Virginia and Maryland.

More than 6,000 acres were searched on foot, the sheriff's office said, with many search areas covered multiple times.
