1. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, which links the incident to rising e-bike and scooter accidents, is continuing its investigation and urging local witnesses to come forward and review its safety guidance.
2. County to Begin Construction on Two Sidewalk Projects in Ashburn and Sterling (loudoun.gov) — Loudoun County will start building new sidewalks in the Ashburn area on Claude Moore Drive from Old Ryan Road to east of Mooreview Parkway beginning October 5, 2026, improving safety and connectivity for local walkers. A related project on East Maple Avenue in Sterling starts September 21, with both efforts part of the county's Sidewalk and Trail Program and expected to finish by 2027.
3. Twice Told Books bringing used bookstore to Ashburn (theburn.com) — A new family-owned used bookstore, Twice Told Books, is coming to 20691 Ashburn Road in the heart of Old Ashburn, across from the firehouse. Run by longtime Ashburn residents Kevin and Claire Lemmon, the shop will buy and sell used books and plans to host author readings and signings, with opening details still to come.
4. Loudoun County Votes To Officially Oppose Valley North Transmission Line (patch.com) — From Ashburn, Loudoun County supervisors have unanimously voted to officially oppose the proposed 765-kV Valley North transmission line and join the case before Virginia's State Corporation Commission. The project would cross 31 miles of Virginia, and Loudoun now joins Frederick and Clarke counties and local groups organizing against the multistate power line plan.
5. 'Am I Gonna Get Sick?': Woman Discovers a Worm in Her McDonald's Coke (themarysue.com) — A woman says she found what looked like a worm in a Coke from a McDonald's in Ashburn, prompting a health inspection that noted damaged tiles and recent flooding near the soda machine. She contacted health officials and Poison Control, but ultimately felt fine, though the exact source and nature of the object remain unconfirmed.
