Gailyn Y. Nocente, 81

Mrs. Gailyn Y. Nocente, 81, of Leesburg, VA, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012, in Falls Church, VA. Gailyn was born Thursday, Sept. 18, 1930, in Grand Island, NE, to the late Raymond Barnard and the late Leona Campbell Barnard. Her husband of over 55 years, Fred J. Nocente also predeceased her in April 2011.

Gailyn spent her younger years in California before moving east. She lived in the Washington Metropolitan Area most of her life and worked at the Naval Research Lab for many years before retiring in 1987. Mrs. Nocente will be fondly remembered for her loving and caring ways as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs. Nocente is survived by her beloved four children: Laura Arnold of Hartly, DE, Douglas Nocente of Winston Salem, NC, Mark Nocente of Leesburg, VA and Steven Nocente of Dunkirk, MD; two brothers: Ron Barnard of Meadow Vista, CA, Jerry Barnard of Fresno, CA; halfsister: Linda Crocker of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren: Matthew, Chris, Phillip, Jerry, Julia, Shannon, Jonathan; one great-grandchild: Keely; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012, at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE in Leesburg. Interment will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
