Responding To Report Of Door Knocking, Leesburg Cops Find Wanted Man: Police

Ervin P. Lansdown, 37, was wanted for a parole violation in Pennsylvania, police say.

LEESBURG, VA – A report of banging on a front door led police in Leesburg to capture a man wanted in a neighboring state, but not before he ran from them and assaulted an officer, police report.

According to the Leesburg Police Department, when they responded to the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE on May 4 following reports of a man banging on a residence door, they found Ervin P. Lansdown Jr., 37, of Big Stone Gap.

Lansdown is wanted in Pennsylvania for a probation violation, they say.

Lansdown ran from officers, but they were able to catch up with him. Leesburg police say Lansdown resisted arrest and assaulted an officer while they attempted to take him in. That officer sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment and then released.

Lansdown is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and fleeing from law enforcement and was served with a probation violation warrant from another jurisdiction. He is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

A man by the name of Ervin P. Lansdown seems to have had multiple run-ins with law enforcement in the Leesburg area, including arrests for drug possession, theft and public intoxication. A man by that name was arrested in 2017 in connection with a string of burglaries in the same area.
