Ashby Ponds to Prepare Special "Around the World" Menu to Honor Martin Luther King Jr.'s Memory

On Monday, January 20, Ashby Ponds will honor Martin Luther King Jr.'s memory with a special menu highlighting destinations he traveled to help break down racial barriers:

India 1957
Visited Mahatma Gandhi’s homeland and met his surviving relatives
Chicken Vindaloo-Indian Curry dish popular in the region of Goa
Basmati Rice-Savory Indian style rice dish flavored with whole spices and fried onions
Indian Cauliflower-Cauliflower sautéed in Garman Marsala 
Chapatis Bread-Indian flatbread

Norway 1959
Accepted the Nobel Prize for Peace at University of Oslo
Farikal-Lamb, cabbage, boiled potatoes stewed with peppercorns and sprinkled with parsley 

Germany 1964
Challenged authorities with a speech emphasizing “freedom”
Jagerschnitzel-Thinly breaded pork cutlets fried, then topped with a sour cream mushroom gravy
Blaukraut-German Red Cabbage
