Murder Charge For Man Accused Of Assaulting Family Member With A Hammer: Police

A Sterling man was charged with attempted murder after he was accused of hitting a woman with a hammer, the sheriff's office said.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A Sterling man was charged with attempted murder on Sunday, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. The man, who police identified as Peter Lollobrigido, was arrested on Sunday afternoon after he was accused in a domestic violence incident.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said they responded to a home in the 42200 block of Glascock Field Terrace around 3:3o p.m. on Sunday afternoon to investigate a reported domestic violence incident. Authorities said the reported assault occurred at the Stone Springs Apartments in Sterling.

When they arrived on the scene, deputies said they located Lollobrigido and the victim inside an apartment, according to a report from the sheriff's office. Police claimed that Lollobrigido assaulted the victim with a hammer. The victim was identified as a family member.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The victim later succumbed to her injuries.

Lollobrigido was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and violating a protective order. He is now being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. He was later charged with murder after the victim died.
