The Ashburn Farm Barracudas defended their undefeated record for the season with a 232 to 212 win over the Chase Club Sharks today at home in Summerwood pool. The Barracudas swimmers pulled ahead early in the meet, finishing the freestyle event with a 51 to 39 lead and maintained a slim winning margin for the rest of the meet leaving the Barracudas uncontested as the number one team in the Blue Division. But it was far from an easy victory over the previously undefeated Sharks and there were some spectacular contests along the way.
In a true life photo finish, the Boys 15-18 200 Meter Mixed Medley Relay team outswam their competition by a mere one one-hundredth of a second, posting a time of 1:58.34. In addition to winning the relay, these boys also set an all-time Barracudas team record for the event, smashing the previous record of 2:00.54 set in July of 2012. The new record was set by Nicholas Kost, Daniel Marron, Michael Kost, and Jacob Auerbach. It was the second fastest relay in the league this season.
