Biberaj Concedes Loudoun Commonwealth's Attorney Race To Anderson
Incumbent commonwealth's attorney Buta Biberaj conceded to Republican Bob Anderson on Wednesday as results showed she trailed by 300 votes.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Incumbent Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney Buta Biberaj conceded on Wednesday. Republican Bob Anderson will be the county's next lead prosecutor.
On Tuesday elections officials finished counting provisional and mail-in ballots in the race, which was too close to call for six days. Election officials said just 300 votes separated the two candidates.
Biberaj officially conceded the race at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

“This has been the closest Commonwealth’s Attorney’s race in Loudoun County history," Biberaj said on Wednesday. "Even though this race is within the margin for a recount, I will not pursue one in order to conserve taxpayer funds and expand the transition period to better serve the people of Loudoun County."
Anderson claimed victory on Election Day, but Biberaj refused to concede until all votes had been counted. Anderson said Biberaj called him to concede on Wednesday.

"I just received a gracious concession call from Buta Biberaj. It is not easy to decide to run for public office, but I am honored to once again be Loudoun County’s Commonwealth’s Attorney-Elect," Anderson wrote on Facebook. "I am ready to get to work on restoring transparency to the office, and to deliver on my promise to protect our community from violent crime."
Biberaj said she will work with Anderson to ensure a smooth transition.
"I remain committed to the pursuit of justice, the betterment of our community, and the safety of the people of Loudoun and ensuring a smooth transition for the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office. These values transcend any individual campaign or political party," Biberaj said on Wednesday. "I have invited Bob Anderson to join our team during the transition period if he so chooses, and I am committed to assisting him in any way I can to ensure that there are no interruptions or impediments to his new administration."
