Ashby Ponds Continuing Care Building Expected to Open in Early 2014

Ashby Ponds is celebrating the progress to-date of the construction of the community's Continuing Care building; it is expected to open in early 2014.

On Friday, April 5, a “Topping Out Party” was held at Ashby Ponds’ Continuing Care building to celebrate the progress to-date of construction including newly added roofing materials.  Some residents and staff at the community toured the building, and learned some facts and figures about the construction so far, including:

-9.6 million lbs. of concrete poured
-200 tons of steel erected
-20 miles of electric cable pulled
-100,000 square feet of light gauge steel erected
-20,880 sheets of drywall hung
-48,000 hours worked

Construction on the building is expected for completion this winter and the neighborhood is expected to open in early 2014.  The 120,000 square-foot continuing care neighborhood will be comprised of 132 residences offering assisted living, memory care, post-acute rehabilitation and nursing care services.  Upon its completion, Ashby Ponds will offer a full continuum of care, the first of its kind in Loudoun County, Va.
