Cash Stolen In Leesburg Convenience Store Burglary

Town's police are asking for public's help in finding suspects.

The Leesburg Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred between Thursday night and Friday morning at the Discount Mart, 224 South King St.

The thief or thieves stole an undisclosed amount of cash, said the police, who are asking the public for information about the break-in.

Officers were dispatched to the store at 8:25 a.m. Friday. The store’s owner said it had been closed and locked at 10 p.m. Thursday, but upon opening the store Friday morning, an employee spotted damage to the front door.

An unknown person or persons gained entry by breaking out a window pane on the front door and then unlocking it. Once inside, the cash register was tampered with and an undisclosed amount of currency was taken, the police said.
