LCPS Says Former Teacher's $2.35 Million Lawsuit Should Be Dismissed: Report

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – The Loudoun County School Board has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit brought against it by a teacher who was fired in 2025, according to a new report.

Loudoun Now reports that LCPS has filed a motion to dismiss the discrimination lawsuit brought against the school district by former Rock Ridge High School theater teacher Tony Cimino-Johnson.

Cimino-Johnson is suing the school district for $2.35 million, alleging that LCPS refused to accommodate his disabilities, allowed other teachers to create a hostile work environment and ultimately retaliated against him for reporting harassment and concerning behavior between a teacher and student.

LCPS, the outlet reports, argues that Cimino-Johnson’s own lawsuit shows that he was fired for policy violations. They say there was no retaliation against Cimino-Johnson; instead, they say, he filed spurious claims with Child Protective Services in his own retaliation against a colleague.

An external investigator brought on by the school district ultimately recommended that Cimino-Johnson be fired.
