Chantilly Man Charged in Shooting of Acquaintance

Victim hospitalized following Wednesday morning incident: Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

A Chantilly man has been charged in the shooting of a male acquaintance inside a home on Gelding Square, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Luis F. Conde-Navarro, 21, faces two felony charges: reckless handling of a firearm causing injury, and discharge of a firearm within a home causing injury, the sheriff’s office said.

The victim received serious injuries in the shooting in the early hours of Wednesday. He was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he remained hospitalized on Friday, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies responded Wednesday morning to the home in the 42700 block of Gelding Square for what was initially reported to be an unintentional shooting, according to a police report. A further investigation revealed that Conde-Navarro was displaying the firearm at around 4:30 a.m. when the incident occurred.

The firearm was recovered at the scene. Conde-Navarro is being held on no bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center in Leesburg.
