Chesterbrook Academy® Preschool Students Release 3,000 Ladybugs

Students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool Brambleton II in Ashburn bugged out in celebration of Earth Day as they released more than 3,000 ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Students dressed for the occasion in the likeness of ladybugs, wearing red and black clothing and antennae. In addition to the ladybug release, students also created robots out of recycled materials and planted seeds in their school garden.

Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Chesterbrook Academy teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
