Chesterbrook Academy Students Create Care Packages for Nonprofit

Students worked with nonprofit organization Operation Gratitude to prepare care packages and send letters of appreciation

Students at Chesterbrook Academy Elementary & Middle School in Sterling recently partnered with nonprofit organization Operation Gratitude to assemble and send more than 150 care packages to military personnel and first responders. Last month, students spent a day learning about how U.S. troops and first responders keep our country safe, while filling care packages with necessities, including deodorant, razors, hand sanitizer, lotion, mouthwash and wipes. During the event, students also wrote letters to the first responders and military members, thanking them for their service. Through this initiative, students learned the importance of giving back to others, especially during the holiday season.

Operation Gratitude seeks to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of the U.S. military and first responder communities and provides volunteer opportunities for Americans to express their appreciation to all who serve our nation. Operation Gratitude has delivered more than 2.1 million care packages to heroes serving overseas and here at home.
