County To Open New Park-and-Ride Lot in South Riding
Bus service to Metro station for commuters will also change on Monday.

Loudoun County is now offering a connection from the South Riding area to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station in Reston. The new East Gate Park & Ride lot (43664 Tall Cedars Parkway, Chantilly) opens to the public Monday morning.
On the same day, new bus service (Route 88X) begins from the East Gate Park & Ride to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station. Morning bus service runs from 5 a.m. to 9:28 a.m. In the evening, bus service from the Metro station to the East Gate Park & Ride runs from 3:35 p.m. to 8:03 p.m. The cost of this bus service is $1 per trip; this is a cash only service.

Commuters may access the East Gate Park & Ride by foot, bike, car or bus. The new lot includes more than 200 parking spaces. Bike storage facilities are also available at the lot. In addition, commuters can reach the East Gate Park & Ride lot via the county’s local bus service, Route 85.
The cost of the project, which includes the Park and Ride lot and a park adjacent to the lot, was $2,465,000. The park will be named and dedicated later this year.
Changes in Commuter and Local Bus Service
The county also is announcing a number of changes in bus service that are effective Monday:
- Potomac Falls Service: Potomac Falls service to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station discontinues. Service to West Falls Church Metro Station will be added; the fare will be $1.50 with SmarTrip or $2 cash.
- Loudoun Station/Dulles North Transit Center: One additional weekday trip from the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station is added at 8:40 p.m.; the fare will be $1 with SmarTrip or $1.50 cash.
- Service from the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station to select Loudoun County employment sites (Reverse Commute Service): All reverse commute service will be moved to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station. The changes include discontinuing all bus service to the Spring Hill Metro Station in Tysons Corner, which was scheduled to occur after Phase 1 of the Silver Line was completed. Commuters may continue to travel to Tysons Corner via Metro from the Wiehle-Reston East Station.
- Goose Creek Village Park & Ride: Service to the Spring Hill Metro Station discontinues. Service to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station is added; the fare will be $1.00 with SmarTrip or $1.50 cash.
- Broadlands/Marketplace Service: Service to the Spring Hill Metro Station discontinues. Service to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station is added. In addition, the Broadlands/Marketplace service in the parking lot of the Harris Teeter will no longer be available to commuters due to overcrowding. Commuters should use the Park & Ride lot located on the corner of Old Ryan Road and Mooreview Parkway, which includes bus service to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station; the fare will be $1.00 with SmarTrip or $1.50 cash.
- Leesburg Park & Ride: Service to the Spring Hill Metro Station discontinues. Service to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station is added; the fare will be $1.00 with SmarTrip or $1.50 cash.
- Harmony Park & Ride: Service to the Spring Hill Metro Station discontinues. Service to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station is added; the fare will be $1.00 with SmarTrip or $1.50 cash.
