Crash Kills Passenger; Driver Charged In Sterling: UPDATE

(UPDATED) STERLING, VA — A man was killed Friday night after the driver of a vehicle in which was a passenger lost control and crashed in the 700 block of Colonial Avenue, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. The driver, Julio A. Rivera, 39, of Herndon, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, DUI and driving on a suspended license. He's being held without bond.
Police responded to the scene shortly after the 10:45 p.m. crash. They said the driver lost control of a 1997 Dodge Ram, struck a parked vehicle and then slammed into a townhouse before winding up on its side. The identity of the passenger, who was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead, has now been identified as Sabino Vasquez-Murcia, 29, of Herndon.
