Election Event at Primrose Schools in Ashburn and Broadlands

To learn about our democratic process, the children will vote for School President between candidates Percy the Rooster and Billy the Duck.

The U.S. presidential campaign is in full swing, and next week the children at Primrose School of Ashburn and its sister school, the Primrose School of Ashburn at Broadlands, will have an election of their own.

Primrose’s event is not associated with the current election; however, school mascots Percy and Billy, are running for the title of presidential Primrose Friend. Plus, students will get to vote on which presidential snack they’ll enjoy the afternoon after the event.

Election Day at Primrose isn’t about who wins or loses. It’s about showing the students how fun voting can be and why it’s important to all Americans. The event is a way to help students understand civic involvement and citizenship. Children are introduced to these responsibilities through activities and projects that help them become aware of their community of friends in their classroom and their neighborhood.

The children will have two very special guests for this event; Mr. Ralph Buona (Vice Chairman & Ashburn District Supervisor) and Ms. Suzanne Volpe (Algonkian District Supervisor) will read to the children and answer their questions about elections. Supervisor Buona will attend the event at the Primrose School of Ashburn at Broadlands next Monday November 7th at 11 am, while Supervisor Volpe will be present at the Primrose School of Ashburn next Monday the 7th at 10 am.

It is Primrose’s mission to create a brighter future for all children – both inside and outside the school. Understanding the importance of civic responsibility gives Primrose students the foundation they need to make a difference in the community at all levels.
