Escape Attempt Thwarted in Purcellville: Police

A driver wanted for speeding tried to flee in his vehicle and then on foot to no avail, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

PURCELLVILLE, VA — A driver who tried to flee from police in two different ways in the wee hours of Tuesday morning struck out on both counts and finally was arrested, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Joel E. Hyduke, 37, of Reston, was charged with DWI and speeding.

Around 2:30 a.m., police tried to pull over the vehicle on Route 9 for speeding. But the driver fled onto Purcellville Road, bailed out the vehicle and fled on foot before quickly being caught.
