This year, on Saturday, September 3rd, the Greater Washington Sports Alliance, the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority and Dominion Virginia Power will come together to host a signature environmental event to highlight the tremendous, unique, natural resource that exists in Northern Virginia -- The Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail. The event will feature the largest community service project in the trail's history and will culminate with a festival off the trail that encompasses themes of active lifestyles, recreation, the environment and our community. Dominion Trail Mix will be a family themed event which will not only celebrate the Trail, but also our community as a whole.
Entertainment
- Trailfest will feature FREE performances by some very exciting local and national performers, including the country band Gloriana, the local teen group A+ Dropouts, and family-oriented entertainer Billy B. Again, all performances are free and open to the public and the lineup offers something for everyone!
- GLORIANA, a nationally acclaimed country music group, will be performing songs from their new album, Wanna Take You Home, as well as favorites like "Wild At Heart" from their self-titled debut album.
- A+ DROPOUTS, the DMV's premier young band, will be performing their LAST concert in the area before they relocate to California to pursue their music. The 13 and 14 year old middle school students have played close to 100 shows with artists like Public Enemy, Forever the Sickest Kids, and Sister Hazel in places like the National Harbor, National Sylvan Theater, Jammin Java, the 930 Club DC, the Quarter Baltimore, the Ottobar, and JAXX. Started in late 2009, the A+ Dropouts have already toured all around Virginia, DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York and even Wisconsin. Come out to Trailfest to see and support these successful local artists!
- BILLY B, a local educational act, entertains while teaching about natural science! The "Natural Science Song and Dance Man" has been electrifying children with his unique style of combining environmental education and entertainment since 1977. Bring the family out to Trailfest to sing, dance and learn with Billy B!
