UPDATE: Victim Identified In Loudoun Crash That Went Undiscovered For 7 Hours On Sunday

UPDATE: Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal crash along Route 267 near Ashburn Village Pkwy that went undiscovered for hours.

ASHBURN, VA — A fatal crash along Route 267 in Loudoun County went undiscovered for nearly seven hours on Sunday, according to Virginia State Police. The crash occurred at 1:19 a.m., but it was not discovered until 8 a.m. on Sunday morning.

A woman died in the single-vehicle crash. Police identified the woman as Katherine Richardson, a 26-year-old from York, Pennsylvania.

Authorities said a 2018 Hyundai Sonata was driving westbound on Route 267 when it ran off the road near the ramp for Route 772/Ashburn Village Boulevard. The car struck a barrier, the continued through grass, down a steep embankment, and through thick landscaping.

"The Sonata struck a Washington Metro Power Transfer building, but the vehicle was concealed from the road by the landscaping," Virginia State Police said on Monday.

Another motorist noticed the crash on Sunday morning. Richardson, who police believe was driving the Sonata, was found dead at the scene, authorities said.

Virginia State Police investigators are still working to determine what circumstances led to the crash.
