Friendly Cell Phone Thief Arrested in Ashburn: Police

All the thefts were from friends, one of whom he assaulted and then robbed at gunpoint, according the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

ASHBURN, VA — A man who casually stole cell phones from friends in front of their face and robbed one of them at gunpoint over the past few weeks was arrested Tuesday, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Kwame Adjei, 18, of Ashburn, was charged with felony robbery, three counts of grand larceny and obstruction of justice. He's being held without bond.

The incidents occurred Dec. 12, Dec. 26 and this past Monday.

In two of the cases, he met with acquaintances, asked to use their cell phones and then fled with the phones.

In the other case, Dec. 26, he met the victim at the Ashburn Shopping Plaza and then, while the two were walking from the plaza in the area of Ashburn Village Boulevard, asked to use the friend's cell phone. He then assaulted the victim, flashed a gun and demanded his wallet and then fled.

But late Tuesday afternoon, police found him in the stairway of the 44000 block of Silkworth Terrace. Adjei ran, police caught him, and he was taken to jail.
