How To Recycle Christmas Trees In Loudoun County In 2022
Residents looking to dispose of their Christmas trees can take their tree to any of five different facilities in Loudoun County.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — As Christmas comes and goes, you may wonder when is the best time to put out your Christmas tree on the curb. Depending on how early you got your tree, it may be starting to dry out.
In Loudoun County, residents who receive curbside recycling collection can contact their homeowners association, town office or recycling service provider for Christmas tree collection schedules. For those who can haul their own tree, a variety of locations around the county will recycle the tree into mulch.
The mulch made from Christmas trees is available to Loudoun County residents year-round at the Loudoun County landfill.

Residents can take trees to the following locations for recycling through Jan. 20:
- Leesburg: Loudoun County Landfill Recycling Center, 21101 Evergreen Mills Road, Leesburg, 20175.
- Lovettsville: Game Protective Association, 16 South Berlin Pike, Lovettsville, 20180.
- Purcellville: Franklin Park, 17501 Franklin Park Drive, Purcellville, 20132.
- South Riding: Town Hall, rear parking lot next to tennis court, 43055 Center Street, South Riding, 20152.
- Sterling: Claude Moore Park (use Loudoun Park Lane entrance), 46150 Loudoun Park Lane, Sterling, 20164.
Before setting out Christmas trees for recycling, remove all ornaments, tinsel and stands. Trees should not be placed in plastic bags.

The National Fire Protection Association recommends taking your Christmas tree outside after Christmas or when the tree is dried out, as dried-out trees can create a fire hazard. Dried-out trees should not be left inside a home or garage or leaning against a home.
