More than 300 kids and teens went shopping this week during Mobile Hope’s holiday inspired Shopping Night that assisted homeless, precariously housed, and other struggling and invisible Loudoun youth. The Mobile Hope bus was open for children, 21 years of age or younger, to shop for coats, hats, mittens and blankets. Inside Mobile Hope had a special visit from Santa who gave away gifts and other special treats. Mobile Hope is a Loudoun-based nonprofit that supports the needs of the more than 2,000 precariously housed, homeless and at risk youth living in Loudoun County. Many of these youth sleep in cars, the woods, with other families, and in shelters. Through a network of partnerships, Mobile Hope provides access for this fragile population to daily essentials—food, clothes, hygiene products, school supplies, medical support services, books and toys—at its headquarters and through the Mobile Hope bus, which travels the county.
