I don't have dental insurance, what are my options?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost 45 million Americans avoid visiting a dentist for professional dental health care services because of the lack of an affordable dental insurance plan. One in four Americans fail to consult a dental health care professional for oral hygiene preventative measures, dental emergencies or chronic dental problems.  However, there are affordable alternatives for those without adequate dental insurance coverage.

Ashburn dentists, as well as dentists from throughout the country, are willing to work with patients to provide affordable dental heath care solutions to patients with a variety of dental emergencies or routine oral health care needs. Third-party dental payment plans help patients supplement existing dental insurance coverage or provide a financial solution to patients lacking an affordable dental insurance plan. Patient financing offers affordable alternative ways to pay for preexisting conditions or cosmetic dentistry procedures. Patients enrolling in dental insurance plans that include many deductibles will pay significantly more than for a less expensive membership plan. Patients will save money by enrolling in membership programs and will receive discounts on additional dental work other than cleanings and regular check ups.

Lansdowne Dental Associates membership program is an example of this type of coverage. For one low annual membership rate, immediately eligible patients will not have to pay out of pocket expenses for two dental cleanings, unlimited oral exams, periodontal evaluation, unlimited digital x-rays and an intraoral camera exam. Advantages include no yearly maximums, no claim forms, no deductibles, no pre-authorizations and no pre-existing limitations.

Some dentists use a sliding scale and adjust dental rates in accordance with the ability of the patient to pay for essential dental work. Patients only needing routine teeth cleanings may choose to enroll in a discount dental plan as a lower cost alternative to dental insurance. Participants will pay a yearly fee that is less than the cost of private dental insurance to access a network of dentists offering dental services at reduced prices.

Taking steps to maintain optimal oral health by seeing your dentist regularly is important for people of all ages, and there are options for patients without dental insurance to make dental care flexible and affordable.
