Involuntary Manslaughter Charge Filed In Fatal Crash On Claiborne Parkway: Police
A 20-year-old man charged with involuntary manslaughter turned himself in to police on Thursday after a fatal crash in Ashburn on May 5.

ASHBURN, VA — An Ashburn man is charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with a car crash on Claiborne Parkway on May 5. Police said the man, 20-year-old Ryan Lanza, was speeding at the time of the crash.
Police said the crash occurred around 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of Claiborne Parkway and Windmill Drive. Investigators believe that a 2006 Honda Civic was travelling on Windmill Drive when it collided with a 2016 Subaru WRX driven by Lanza that was going north on Claiborne Parkway.

Authorities said the driver of the Civic, who they identified as Deborah Michel, died at the hospital. Lanza was also taken to a hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries.
On Thursday, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said Lanza was driving more than 75 miles per hour just prior to the crash. The speed limit was 45 miles per hour.

Lanza turned himself in to authorities on Thursday. He was then released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a $5,000 secured bond.
