Please give us any details about your family that you'd like to share.
I am married to my wonderful husband, Michael Perry. We don’t have kids yet.
What's your occupation?
I am currently a teacher. I started my teaching career in Stafford County in January 2015. Then, I moved to Fairfax County in 2017, and I have been teaching for Fairfax County Public Schools since August 2017. I have been teaching for a total of 11.5 years.
Have you ever held political office? Please describe your political background.
I have never held political office. However, I ran for Virginia House of Delegates in the old district 86 in 2021. I also ran for VA Senate in District 36 in 2023.
How will this political, professional or other experience help you perform in office if elected?
Since I am a classroom teacher, I know what is happening in the schools and can bring that knowledge to the Education & Workforce Committee. Since I started my teaching career as a special education teacher, I understand the importance of IDEA dollars being used for students with disabilities as intended and hold schools accountable when funds are diverted from serving those students. Also, it is critical that civil rights are protected for parents, students, and teachers who speak up about problems in their schools, ensure they are heard without fear of retaliation.
Why are you running for this office?
I am running for this office because as a teacher, I have seen tons of corruption that has taken place in the schools. A lot of that corruption is like what we are seeing among career politicians in Washington that prioritize their personal interests over the needs of the people that elect them. We need people in Washington that are not career politicians because they are way more in touch with ordinary citizens. I can relate to the needs of ordinary citizens, which is common sense, greater accountability, and fiscal responsibility so families can keep more of what they earn and feel confident about their future again.
What do you believe are the most important issues facing voters in the district you seek to represent? How do you intend to address those issues?
Education - As a teacher, I’ve seen first-hand what’s happening in our schools, and it’s not working. Students are falling behind, parents are being pushed out, and teachers are being pressured to prioritize agendas over academics. I will fight to restore reading, math, science, history, and the arts as priorities. Our schools should prepare students for real life, not political debates, and parents should always have a voice in their child’s education.
Healthcare – Healthcare shouldn't feel like a maze. Far too many families spend hours navigating complicated paperwork, confusing billing systems, and endless bureaucracy just to receive the care they need. Patients deserve a system that is easier to understand, more transparent, and focused on their well-being. I believe healthcare decisions should be made by patients and their doctors, not by Washington bureaucrats. I will support reforms that simplify the system, increase transparency, and lower costs so families can focus on getting healthy instead of fighting through red tape. Healthcare should work for Virginians, not against them.
Cost of Living & Fiscal Responsibility - Families across are feeling the squeeze from rising housing costs, higher grocery bills, and increased energy prices. I will push for fiscal responsibility, oppose reckless spending, and support policies who bring down inflation so families can afford to live, work, and raise children in the communities they love.
How do you differ from the other candidates in the field? What makes you uniquely qualified for this office?
I am different from the other candidates in the field because most people that run for a federal seat are abundantly funded CEO/executives, ex-military & law enforcement officers, lawyers, or doctors. I am not any of those. Instead, I am a teacher who is a Conservative. Very few teachers, especially Conservative teachers, ever run for political office. Unfortunately, since there is a lot of corruption that has infiltrated into the schools, I have stood up against it. Since I am not afraid to stand up to the corruption in schools and I won’t be afraid to stand up to corruption in Washington.
What is the most consistent feedback your campaign gets from voters about what they want from their representative?
Voters are eager to see people in Washington who are not career politicians because they are much more in touch with ordinary citizens. People are fed up with career politicians in Washington who prioritize their personal interests over the needs of the people that elect them because it is destroying this great nation. Voters want common sense, which includes stronger schools, a more affordable cost of living, safe communities, and leadership rooted in integrity.
What is your opinion of the work being done by the current office holder, and how will you improve on it?
It is disappointing that the current incumbent, Suhas Subramanyan, prioritizes criminal illegal aliens over community safety. Part of Virginia’s 10th Congressional District is in Fairfax County. On February 23, 2026, Stephanie Minters was murdered by an illegal alien with more than 30 prior arrests in Fairfax County. Suhas voted against S. 2: Secure America Act, which provides funding to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through FY2029 for immigration enforcement and related activities. I would have voted for this bill because I believe in prioritizing community safety over criminal illegal aliens.
Since education and parental rights are huge issues in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District, it is concerning that Suhas Subramanyan voted "NO" to H.R.2616- Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act. If this bill becomes federal law, it will require elementary and middle schools to obtain parental consent before changing a minor's gender markers, pronouns, or preferred name on any school form or sex-based accommodations, including locker rooms or bathrooms if order to receive Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) funds. Also, it will prevent schools from using ESEA funds to teach gender ideology. I would have voted for this bill because protecting kids, parental rights in their children's education, and stopping indoctrination are issues I strongly support and that matter greatly to the constituents in Virginia’s 10th Congressional District.
