Latest Phone Scam: You're Not Supporting the Police
Here's the four tips to avoid these "Benevolent Fund" scams, plus the phone number the scammer is using.

Recent phone calls from an alleged “law enforcement benevolent fund” have the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office warning residents it’s likely a scam.
The caller claims to be with a local law enforcement agency and is using the phone number 703-652-8359. This number has been used in previous scams in the area.
The unsolicited caller claims to be collecting donations, but area law enforcement benevolent funds do not typically solicit monies over the phone.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office asks residents to be leery of ove-the-phone solicitors and advises residents to:

- Ask the caller to provide the information in writing.
- Ask for a call back number to verify the organization is legitimate.
- Never provide personal or financial information to anyone who e-mails or calls you unsolicited.
- Don’t wire money, provide debit or credit card numbers or money card numbers to someone you don’t know.
