Loudoun Commonwealth's Attorney Primary: Lancaster Looks To Unseat Biberaj
Loudoun voters will be heading to the polls Tuesday to cast ballots in the Democratic Primary for commonwealth's attorney.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun voters will be casting ballots on Tuesday in the 2023 Democratic Party primaries for the Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Any voter still in line at 7 p.m. will be able to vote.
The race for the Democratic nomination for the commonwealth's attorney is the only county-wide race that will be on every ballot.

Incumbent Buta Biberaj is facing a challenge from Elizabeth Lancaster, who has worked as a public defender.
The winner of the primary will face Bob Anderson in the general election in November.

There are also three Democratic primary races in the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates for some Loudoun residents.
In the 31st Virginia Senate district, which encompasses most of Leesburg and western Loudoun, Russet Perry is running against Zachary Cummings. The winner of the nomination will face Republican Juan Pablo Segura in November.
In the 32nd Virginia Senate District, Suhas Subramanyam is looking to receive the Democratic nomination in a race against Ibraheem Samirah. Both candidates have served on the Virginia House of Delegates in the past. The 32nd district encompasses Ashburn and Sterling.
The winner of the Democratic primary will run against Greg Moulthrop in the general election.
In the 26th district of the House of Delegates, Sirisha Kompalli is running against Kannan Srinivasan. The winner of the Democratic Primary will square off against Republican Rafi Khaja.
Voting Requirements and Registration
Residents can check their voter registration status online. In 2022, Virginia eliminated voter registration deadlines. Voters can now register on Election Day and vote using a provisional ballot.
Voters can only vote in one party's primary in Virginia, but they do not have to register in advance. At their polling site, voters will indicate which party's primary they would like to vote in.
