Loudoun County Substitute Teacher Found Guilty Of Making Threats Against School: Report

A former substitute teacher in Loudoun County has been found guilty of making threats against individuals and property.

ASHBURN, VA – The substitute teacher accused of making threats against a Loudoun County public school has been found guilty of making threats to injure people and damage property, according to a new report.

Loudoun Now reports that Hadyn Dollery, 19, of Chantilly, was found guilty of two counts of threatening to injure or kill a person, one count of making threats on school grounds and one count of threatening to damage a building. Dollery was found not guilty of one charge of making threats.

Dollery was arrested in April and charged after making online statements threatening violence at John Champe High School.

According to the outlet, the jury heard that Dollery threatened to kill an ex-boyfriend and members of his and the victim’s family, go on a “murder spree at school” and cannibalize other victims. A box cutter was found in his backpack when he was arrested.

The threats were reported using the county’s longstanding anonymous app, Safe2Talk, through which people can report threats to schools. According to the outlet, John Champe High School, the target of the threats, as well as Eagle Ridge Middle School, where Dollery worked, thought the threats were credible and beefed up security until Dollery was arrested.

Dollery’s defense unsuccessfully argued that the whole situation was blown out of proportion and the threats were just an outburst by a young man with no history of violence experiencing his first breakup, according to the report.

Dollery is set to be sentenced on Jan. 28.
