Post Office Renaming Legislation Proposed To Honor Fallen Loudoun Firefighter
A post office about two miles from where a home explosion killed Volunteer Firefighter Trevor Brown could be named in his honor.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The closest post office to the Loudoun County February 2024 home explosion is proposed to be renamed in honor of the firefighter who was killed.
Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-Loudoun) has proposed legislation in Congress to rename the Potomac Falls post office at 46164 Westlake Drive in Sterling the Firefighter Trevor Brown Post Office Building.
Brown, a 45-year-old volunteer firefighter with the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company, died when a home exploded in the Seneca Ridge neighborhood in Sterling on Feb. 16, 2024. An Ashburn resident, Brown is survived by his wife, Laura, and three children. According to the congressman's office, Brown was a stay-at-home dad and served as a youth soccer and baseball coach in addition to his volunteer firefighting service.

"Firefighter Brown touched so many lives in our community and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to it," said Subramanyam in a statement. "This has been a hard time for his family, for our community, and for the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company. My hope is that when people see his name on this post office, they will remember the sacrifice he made and be inspired to serve the way he did."

The community came together to make the site into a park, providing a space to honor the first responders affected by the home explosion. The explosion had also injured 10 firefighters and three other people.
