The 10th annual Loudoun GIS Forum will take place on Wednesday, May 6, on the campus of AOL in Loudoun County. This year’s theme is “The Internet of Things: The Changing World of Data Collection & Connectivity.”

The GIS forum is a one-day event that brings together students and professionals from government and industry, as well as members of the public eager to learn more about geographic information systems (GIS) and what they can do.

GIS is the foundation for location-based services in almost every field and industry. It is used by Loudoun County to manage stormwater, dispatch emergency vehicles, analyze crime, conduct planning studies and more.

The day-long event will feature presentations on a variety of topics, including the use of GIS in community policing and community development. There will also be a panel discussion on the future of geospatial data, and the event will feature a map gallery.
