New Year's Racing Event Comes to Ashburn Farm Dec. 31st
5K & 10K Race, 2K Fun Run - Event to benefit Life With Cancer. Family fun for all, free finish line massages and more than $5,000 prizes

Event to Raise Awareness and Funding for Life With Cancer
The seventh annual Ringing In Hope: A New Year’s Eve Celebration race will be held Saturday, December 31st 2016 at a new location in Ashburn Farm. This event is being hosted and presented by the Ashburn Farm Association. The event features a 5K & 10K race, and new to this event, a 2K walk/fun run. Events kick off at 9 am. Registration is available online at RingingInHope.com until Dec. 30 and then on-site race morning.

The event will help raise awareness and additional funding for Life With Cancer, a program of the Inova Schar Cancer Institute, which has become Northern Virginia’s leading cancer education and support organization. They offer a variety of programs and services for patients, survivors, and their family members to help individuals cope with cancer, its treatments, and survivorship in the best possible way.
Participants will have an opportunity to donate or raise funds on behalf of a loved one fighting cancer. Individual donations may be made while registering, or a fundraising team may be established. Additionally, participants are asked to bring in an item listed on the registration site that will support the tangible needs of Life With Cancer.

Participants will enjoy food from Ashburn’s own Taque Mexican BBQ at the finish line. Race traditions continue as race participants can enjoy post-race massages and free family fun activities including a moon bounce, family fun photos, face painting, kids art, and much more. In addition, all race participants will have their photo taken as they cross the finish line.
Following the race, prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female overall winners in each race, as well as the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age categories: (11 and under, 12-14,15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.) More than $5,000 in awards and prizes will be given out during the event.

All race-day registration will be outdoors at Crossroads United Methodist Church to accommodate growing crowds and will be available starting at 7:30 a.m. Children who participate in the fun run/walk will receive a participation badge at the finish line.
The races are being timed by Commonwealth Race Management, a division of Potomac River Running. Volunteers are eligible to receive high school service credit hours. All interested volunteers should please e-mail Ringing In Hope at info@ringinginhope.com.
